Join Teamsters Local 728, HRDC and Waste Division for the King Holiday 2026!

On behalf of the Human Rights and Diversity Commission (HRDC) and the Waste Division, we would like to invite you to participate with Local Union 728 and us for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend celebration in Atlanta, GA.

Our itinerary will be as follows:

• Saturday, January 17, 2026, we will be having several activities at Local 728 beginning at 9:00 am.  The address is 2540 Lakewood Avenue, SW, Atlanta, GA  30315. 

• Community service cleanup project. 
• Breakfast and lunch will also be provided. 
• In the afternoon, we will be having 2 classes (“Labor Rights are Civil Rights:  Intertwined Roads to Freedom” and “Republic Sanitation – How Important the Struggle was for Dr. King and the Sanitation Workers”). 

• Sunday, January 18, 2026

• At 9:00 am, there will be a Republic Workers (only) meeting at Local 728 with Waste Director, Victor Mineros.
• At 11:00 am, we will be having a class at Local 728 with HRDC discussing “Civil Rights Leaders.  Review Who They Were & Why they Matter”.  For those who attend this class, please have a picture of your favorite Civil Rights Leader, to touch on how they matter to you.
• Lunch also will be provided.
• We will be visiting The King Center, 449 Auburn Avenue, NE, Atlanta, GA 30312.  We will be meeting at 1:00 pm

• Monday, January 19, 2026, we will be participating in the Annual Dr. King March.  We will be meeting Local 728 at 10:30 am with breakfast provided.  There will be shuttles to the march.  The march begins at Peachtree & Baker Street at 1:45 pm.
